Daisetsu Kogen Ponds(Numa-meguri Hiking Trail)
Starting from Kogen Onsen at an altitude of 1,230m, the trail passes through various swamps. You can enjoy not only the swamps, but also a wide variety of plants, from mixed forest to alpine plants and marsh plants. Various animals live here, including the largest mammal in Japan,brown bears.
This course is the only one in DaisetsuzanNational Park that has time regulations and designated eating spaces. Also the stuff there are patrols every day during the season, and it is necessary to take lecture before start hiking. While enjoying the primeval forest where brown bears live, you might also learn how the ecological cycle works in the forest.
During the day, it is expected to experience the journey from "human and nature" to "nature included human"with us.
